The New Business Director is responsible for convincingly telling the Preston Spire story in ways that relate to our prospects’ needs. This person is equally adept at telling the story in person, via a written RFP response or through a presentation. This person is curious, energetic and a positive team player always seeking the next opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the agency new business plan
  • Create a network that keeps the agency “in the know” about appropriate opportunities
  • Make connections with prospects that are actively searching for a new agency
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospects that would make great clients
  • Execute on search consultant plan, send emails, set up meetings, develop presentations and handle quarterly follow up communications with key search consultants
  • Be aware of all agency work and sees how it can apply to new business opportunities
  • Manage lead generation resources and tools, build upon and maintain the new business database (if needed)
  • Be the “front door,” or the first point of contact, for new business at the agency
  • Collaborate with new business teams in developing strategies and ideas for proposals and presentations
  • Inform executive leadership on all new plans, opportunities and communications
  • Be the main point of contact for Request for Proposals (RFPs), organize and contribute to RFP responses
  • Facilitate and participate in creating new business presentations
  • Maintain and update new business assets, including fact sheet, bios, case studies, testimonials/references, proposal and presentation assets, website content and third party agency directories (e.g., 4As, Compile, etc.)
  • Monitor agency analytics dashboard to see who has been visiting/responding and follow-up as appropriate
  • Work with public relations team to generate thought pieces, articles, stories, speaking engagements, events and award submissions
  • Work with social media team to generate agency content on all channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)

Expertise/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education combined with experience
  • 6 or more years of ad agency experience, with at least 2 of those years working on new business
  • Ability and desire to work alongside team members in our downtown Minneapolis office at least three days per week
  • Solid computer skills, including Google Suite
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills, in person, over video or phone
  • Cool under fire (e.g., when equipment isn’t fully functioning minutes before a presentation)
  • The right demeanor and personality to be a lead agency ambassador
  • Strong sense of curiosity and ability to ask smart and thoughtful questions
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to details and good record keeping abilities
  • Team player who loves to collaborate with other team members in the organization
  • Ability to live our agency values of courage, openness, originality and positivity
  • Proficient level of professional skill and knowledge in marketing and key client industries, keeping current with developments and trends
