We are looking for a Data Strategist who will lead clients and teams through a journey of human-centered research to discover insights and inspiration and contribute to all phases of the strategic process. This unique role is a blend of creative and analytical thinking that deploys various tools and techniques that inspire creative communication and help clients better understand their target audience, map their experiences, size market opportunities, measure and optimize brand performance – all rooted in data-driven strategic insights.

Responsibilities:
  • Build audience profiles based on various syndicated and proprietary tools (Resonate, Global Web Index, Brandwatch, AYTM, Google Insights Finder, MRI, Statista, etc.)
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the target audiences, consumer journeys, identifying both in-category and out-of-category opportunities for brands
  • Synthesize research findings to uncover and articulate insights that will inspire strategy and inform the creative briefs
  • Collaborate with teams and ideate on insights to create strategic opportunities for innovative brand and product experiences
  • Utilize cleansing and blending tools to optimize sources for visualization and analysis
  • Enhance automation processes to maximize the teams time to provide insights to the business
  • Support client and internal teams to define campaign objectives that ladder up to business goals and recommend measurement techniques using a variety of tools to measure KPIs that help determine how we optimize
  • Support digital reporting in collaboration with our media, digital and social strategy teams
  • Help manage the end-to-end analytics process across paid, owned and earned media channels
  • Partner with strategic leads; work with teams to flesh out campaign approach decision trees and test design – concepting, strategy, development, messaging, delivery and subsequent analysis
  • Proactively engage with other teams across the agency, support the creation of new proprietary tools, cultivate new opportunities, and activate compelling insights into action
  • Work together with leadership to develop critical KPIs, comprehend customer behavior across the product line, and spot possibilities for improvement
  • Create and maintain all reporting and dashboarding as well as the various marketing channels and campaigns that interact with the website
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on website analytics for the larger marketing team
  • Take charge of the organization and implementation of a data roadmap for future business analyses, experimentation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with the website team to identify potential for metrics improvement, future experimentation, and reporting enhancement
  • Develop a website analytics tagging approach to assure future data cleanliness and analytics coverage
  • Assist in the gathering and analysis of operational and customer data and acting on cross-functional feedback and data

General Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience in an agency, marketing or financial analysis background setting preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, data management, business, statistics, or a related field
  • Minneapolis based, working with the team from our offices at least three days per week
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues and opportunities to all levels of management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and cool under fire
  • Skill to manage multiple project assignments and deliverables at the same time
  • Rapid learning and application of new skills
  • Experience and desire to work in a collaborative environment based on open communication, listening and exchange of ideas

Discipline-Specific Requirements:

  • Strong technical foundation in marketing database management systems including: MySQL, BigQuery, and AWS
  • Knowledge of business intelligence dashboarding solutions such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio or Datorama
  • Familiarity with API management for connecting marketing data across systems.
  • Competent with a variety of tagging, optimization, and online analytics technologies (including Google Analytics 4, Optimizely, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Analytics, Piwik Pro, Heap, and Segment), expertise with A/B testing techniques, experimentation and personalization
  • A foundational knowledge of statistics (2-3 years experience using statistical computer languages like R, Python, SAS, etc. to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Ability to balance technical and commercial viewpoints, as well as expertise interacting with both non-technical stakeholders and members of technical teams
  • Experience with statistical analytic methodologies
  • Strong data narrative and presentation skills
  • Self-starter who is organized and able to create, carry out, and evaluate different analytical programs
  • Ability to properly manage time and prioritize work in a hectic situation while paying close attention to details
  • Ability to effectively interact with, influence, and inspire a variety of people at all levels of the company
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to present the analysis and synthesis processes, distilling down to focus on the most important insights and linking them together in a strategic framework
  • Strong comfort with Excel including the ability to perform functions like pivot tables and basic formulas

Nice to have:

  • Customer data management via CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Hubspot, Marketo and Dynamics.
  • Ability to conduct social listening analyses leveraging tools like Infegy, Netbase, or Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Sprout, Emplifi
  • Exploratory knowledge of AI for scale and efficiency in data analysis
