Media Supervisor

This is a position for an ambitious, strategic and growth-minded media professional who brings innovative omnichannel and unconventional media thinking to our clients and their brands. They will lead the day-to-day relationship with clients and manage workloads to established timelines for the team. They will lead, mentor and supervise media planner(s), buyer(s) and coordinator(s) assigned to those accounts which are the Media Supervisor’s primary responsibility.

This position requires strong communication and organizational skills. Being a proactive collaborator with internal and external teams is a must. They need to be detail-oriented, data-driven and a compelling storyteller – all in helping our agency and clients understand emerging trends and encouraging the best work possible. The Media Supervisor ensures quality work throughout all departmental stages, from strategy to plan execution, trafficking, performance, optimization, reporting, billing and reconciliation. They will also help improve upon media processes where necessary, making us a stronger department and agency.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and guides the strategy, research and development of media plans, from target audience definition to identifying best use of media channels and levels of support
  • Knows and keeps up-to-date on all available market and consumer information necessary for the preparation of the most effective and efficient media plans
  • Evaluates all media considerations to determine the best means of accomplishing our clients’ goals and objectives
  • Writes media plan recommendations and presents them to internal teams and clients
  • Determines and supervises the best possible implementation of approved media plans and projects
  • Monitors plan execution and serves as a first point of contact to raise and resolve any identified issues/discrepancies
  • Generates media insights using various data sources and crafts strategic POVs
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, internal teams and media representatives in order to further mutual interests of the agency and its clients
  • Helps to train buyers and planners in proper methods of preparing, evaluating, and implementing media plans
  • Assists account management teams in planning overall budgets, including annual and project-specific SOWs
  • Oversees performance and optimizations of all paid investments and coordinates all necessary cross-channel reporting based on client needs
  • Provides an energy level that inspires others to do their best work
  • Participates in new business and growth opportunities with current clients
  • Works under minimal supervision to track timelines and deliverables, and manages resource allocation on assigned accounts
  • Learns and understands the client’s business, industry and competition, and leverage that knowledge to help generate new ideas to strategically grow their business

General Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience at an ad agency preferred
  • Minneapolis based, working with the team from our offices at least three days per week
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues and opportunities to all levels of management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and cool under fire
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Rapid learning and application of new skills
  • Experience and desire to work in a collaborative environment based on open communication, listening and exchange of ideas

Discipline-Specific Requirements:

  • 4+ years paid media experience, including digital and traditional
  • Supervisory experience, having mentored and managed junior team members
  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals of digital and traditional advertising
  • Exceptional analytical skills, must have experience analyzing and interpreting data
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills as well as proven ability to develop clear and concise documents and presentations
  • Experience with online and offline data tools: Google Ads, Google Analytics, Resonate, Arbitron, Nielsen, MRI, Scarborough and Vivvix
  • Knowledge of business intelligence dashboarding solutions such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio or Datorama
  • Strong comfort with Excel including the ability to perform functions like pivot tables and basic formulas
